The writing of Fanon and Anzaldua utilize Post-Colonial Theory to criticize systems, institutions, and western ways of knowing that have dominated the colonized world.  Thinking about their ideas and arguments, utilize the two articles in this folder on medicine and colonialism to answer the following question:  How has “Western thought” influenced medicine and health across the world and why is it important to “decolonize” medicine?  In answering this be sure to define what is meant by decolonizing medicine and how can it be achieved?  Be sure to connect the writings of Fanon and Anzaldua to the issue of health and medicine.  The link to key terms in post-colonial thought is also in this folder to help with definitions on colonization and post-colonial.  It doesn’t have to be used but it helps to clarify aspects of Post-Colonial Theory. Responses should be 3-5 pages double spaced (about 700-1100 words)  Please use proper citations and a works cited or bibliography page.  (Whatever citation format you prefer)
