Sun Tzu essay

Description Although better known for his philosophical connection to the work of Machiavelli, Tupac Shakur (or 2Pac) also extensively studied the work of Sun Tzu and was very familiar with the ancient military strategy found in The Art of War. Most notably, on his final studio album, The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory (which was recorded under the Makaveli moniker), Shakur uses the philosophies of Sun Tzu and Machiavelli to deconstruct contemporary issues, such as getting ahead in the rap industry, impoverished urban living, and 20th century race relations. What I would like you to do for this essay is analyze how, based on this album alone, Shakur appropriated the philosophy found in The Art of War as it could serve as a commentary on his own experience.  Make connections between the two texts (There are a lot there, but there are also certain distinctions, so you always want to make sure you understand exactly what each one is saying.) Although it is up to you to make the connections that you find to be most significant, here are a few things you may want to consider: – Consider how Shakur regards other rappers as it compares to how Sun Tzu suggests a military leader regard other military powers. – How do each of the men seem to regard violence? When do they think it should be used and what kinds of violence do they each believe in? (There are a lot of distinctions here.) – What does each man seem to value? What do they each seem to ultimately want? (Again, they don’t always necessarily agree here.)
