As you have already experienced, this Discussion forum provides you with the flexibility to openly communicate and share ideas with your Chair and colleagues. The more you are engaged in this process, the better your learning experience will be and the more opportunities you will have to receive support from your colleagues and Chair as you work toward the completion of components leading to the PAS.
“Approximately 40% of doctoral students are unable to complete their independent capstone research at the conclusion of their coursework and of those who do complete the capstone, time to completion is often longer than anticipated” (Baltes and Brown, 2016, p. 89). I understand by writing a prospectus it will provide me with a plethora of opportunities in furthering my professional career and goals. At this point I have submitted a draft of my prospectus to Dr. T. I am waiting for his feedback. I do not feel confident in what I submitted to him. Hopefully, I will be able to make the necessary improvements and adjustments. According to Baltes and Brown (2016), “mentoring, advising, and early feedback/guidance are consistently noted as activities and innovations to improve the completion rates of doctoral students” (p. 90).
