At first it seemed silly, rigid and difficult with so many moving parts, but the more I used it, the more I understood that it lends itself well to consistency when writing and reading academic essays or assignments. The source of my frustration was in learning all the ways to apply APA in style and referencing. I think until you are well versed in using APA, it requires taking the time to review the content, referencing and style in every paper you write to ensuring that all your is are dotted and ts are crossed.
