Culture and Ethnic Studies: Support western values over eastern values

Question the following notion:

“Western values, including civil freedoms and individual rights (the right to speak, the right to criticize the government, the right to choose one’s own religion, etc.) were imposed on other countries by the West.” (Shiraev & Levy, 2017) The skeptics assume the pursuit of such individual rights persuade people to disregard tradition and act against majority-based perspectives. Furthermore, these tendencies are argued to distance the person from one’s family, culture, and religion.

The supporters of Eastern values tend to suggest individual rights to economic security, social protection, and preservation of tradition are just as important, if not more important, as individual liberties. Are certain leadership and organizational values more attuned to Western values than to non-western values? When considering the surrounding communities, how have they experienced advantages and disadvantages from the Western leadership and organizational values?

What non-Western leadership and organizational values should be deemed vital and how should they be integrated to achieve further progress within these communities?

Provide and explain position and perspective supported by scholarly references.
